Eva Longoria reveals she and her family fled after Donald Trump's victory

After the election of Donald Trump in the United States, it's a bit of a hangover among the stars. But if some are leaving

This is the case of Eva Longoria, who no longer finds her place in the United States, which she even describes as a “dystopia”. It must be said that for the star of Desperate Housewiveswho supported Kamala Harris and even participated in the national convention of the Democratic Party in August, the disappointment is immense. “What is shocking is not that he won, it is that a convicted criminal who spews so much hatred can occupy the highest office,” she denounced in Marie-Claire in reference to the 34 crimes, from fraud to sexual abuse, for which the new president has already been convicted.

“Stuck in this dystopian country”

So the star, who was born in Texas, of Spanish nationality and married to José Bastón, producer of Mexican origin, opted to flee, aware of her privilege. “I have the opportunity to escape and go somewhere else. Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country. My anxiety and my sadness are for them,” she confides. Because “if he keeps his promises, this country will become scary,” she warns.

But this departure is not entirely due to the elections. The mother of Santiago, 6 years old, felt the tide turning in Los Angeles a few years ago. “I’ve spent my entire adult life here. But even before the pandemic, the city was changing. The atmosphere was different. And then Covid-19 arrived and changed everything,” she confides.

And to clarify: “Whether it is the homeless or the taxes, without wanting to denigrate California, I have the impression that this chapter of my life is over”. The next one has already opened in Mexico and Spain, where the family now shares their lives.
