Jude Law opens up about his “very healthy relationship” with psychologist Phillipa Coan

They met in 2015, shortly before filming The Young Pope. Married to psychologist Phillipa Coan since 2019, Jude Law spoke of his marital bliss in the British edition of GQ this Tuesday, November 12. Asked about the respective successes of the series The Third Day and movies The Nest (2021) or even The Queen's Game (2023), the actor praised the positive influence of his wife on his career and his daily life.

A “very healthy relationship”

“It’s very interesting, actually; the common denominator is my wife, said Jude Law. Meeting “Phil”, falling in love with her and our relationship, had a huge influence on my life. I have never felt so happy. I have never felt so supported.” Before adding: “And my house is an incredibly protected space. I don't want this to sound like I've never experienced this before, but when you meet a specific person and you connect with them and they understand your work and your needs, everything is fine. It meant a lot to me.”

The actor further confirmed that his partner had allowed him to make more “bold” choices in the context of his work. But also to question more deeply the nature of one's relationships with those close to them. “And then, Phil is a psychologist,” he emphasized. So we have a very healthy relationship, where we talk a lot about how we feel, about our relationships with friends and family, and she has a wonderful perspective on all of that. I think at a certain age you have to start thinking. What patterns have I created? How would I describe my relationships with those around me? Why are they like this? How do I feel about them?

A tumultuous love life

A sentimental life that seems a bit more peaceful than his past idylls. Hunted by the paparazzi for each of his romances, Jude Law was notably married to Sadie Frost – from 1997 to 2003 -, with whom he welcomed his children Rafferty, in 1996, Iris, in 2000 and Rudy, in 2002. Then he was engaged to Sienna Miller in 2005 – the year he publicly revealed he had cheated on her with his children's nanny.

After splitting, the couple got back together in 2009, then married the following year. But broke up for good in 2011. Since then, the actor has had romances with model Samantha Burke, with whom he had a daughter, Sophia, in 2009, and Catherine Harding, who gave birth to their daughter Ada in 2015. In September 2020, the actor welcomed his sixth child with Phillipa Coan. Their youngest child was born in February 2023.
