Currently showing in Three Friends by Emmanuel Mouret, Sara Forestier was interviewed by the commission of inquiry into violence in the cinema, audiovisual, live performance, fashion and advertising sectors, chaired by Sandrine Rousseau, on November 7 , in order to testify and try to find solutions to improve the film industry.
A situation which has been reversed according to Sara Forestier
If the actress spoke about her journey, she also revealed that, to avoid economic losses and the scandal linked to the incident on the set of Good manthe production would have anonymously contacted a celebrity magazine to affirm that it was not the actor who slapped the actress, but rather her. Sara Forestier, however, insisted on the fact that she had indeed received this slap.
“I didn't think we could reverse the situation, but at the same time, it's relentless… How could I speak after that, since they had accused me of having slapped me… How, Could I have said that I had received this slap? Because I received this slap. So, they managed to silence me. (…) When they delivered this last relentless blow, I was on the ground, I was devastated. I remember, it hurts me a lot to think about it, but I remember being… Forgive me…” she said, unable to help but shed a few tears following this moving testimony before continuing: “to have been on all fours, on my knees in my living room, on my floor crying because I had just learned of the article“.
The slap and the consequences on the private life of the actress
She also added that, following this affair, she had lost numerous filming offers, which had profound consequences on her career and personal life. “A few months later, I had to film in a series and there, I learned since there was this press article which gave me this reputation, I was fired, I was not going to do this series and suddenly, I no longer earned any money, for a good while, I had two projects like that which were canceled, I could no longer pay my rent, I got into debt, as in addition, I was counting on filming, where I was slapped for from the agent to last a certain time…(…) I got into debt and I don’t know, I survived as best I could…” she said, while affirming that she had managed to return to films, but that she was now in a certain mistrust vis-à-vis the industry. A few minutes later, questioned by the court, she made some revelations about her state of health during this period.My body gave up on me, I was bleeding, I tell you frankly, I was urinating on myself…” she revealed, before bursting into tears and continuing: “I was in a deplorable state, close to death.”
