Sonia Mabrouk cash on the #MeToo movement on Jord's set…

Tuesday November 5, 2024, Sonia Mabrouk was invited to the set of the show Chez Jordan, on C8. Asked about the Me Too movement, the 46-year-old journalist felt that freeing speech could sometimes go too far.

Following the Harvey Weinstein affair, The MeToo movement gained momentum in 2017. If many women have accused anonymous people, certain personalities have been singled out, such as Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, Nicolas Hulot, Alain Sarde, Roman Polanski, Gérard Depardieu. Tuesday November 5, 2024, it was while she was invited on the set of the show Chez Jordan, on C8, that Sonia Mabrouk revealed if she had ever been the target of inappropriate behavior.

“That never happened to me. There was no ambiguity, there was no inappropriate gesture, there was no remark in that register”she declared before specifying:
I did not attend but I sometimes saw remarks who I myself, towards assistants sometimes totally repelled me, but I'm telling you about there is… These were remarks more on the order of sexism than on the order of sexual assault obviously, because there is a reaction which must be immediate and frank. I have never suffered this”.

Sonia Mabrouk: “I’m mixed”

In complete transparency, the 46-year-old journalist explained:
“Me in relation to the MeToo wave, I have a reaction which is rather… I am mixed. I have that of the reaction, I could say, of Caroline FourestI was with her on set and we agreed. She wrote a book on the dizziness of MeToo. Yes, the freedom of speech is great, however, let's not forget that when you break eggs to make an omelette, the eggs can rebel.”.

Not wanting to put everyone in the same basket, Sonia Mabrouk added: We don't have to say that these are non-negligible quantities. And all these people who today no longer have a social life because of people who wanted either to take revenge, or at the expense of a person, to have more notoriety… It's not good and it must be said too“.

Caroline Fourest: “Many guilty, finally exposed, and a few innocent”

A few weeks earlier, Sonia Mabrouk had received Caroline Fourest, in full promotion of the book Le vertige MeToo. “There are those who are suspected of having used force or exercised their control, and sometimes simple rejects, who are accused of isolated clumsiness. There are predators that many denounce, and those that one only woman accuses. There are those acquitted due to lack of evidence, and those exonerated who always live in the shadow of doubt… In this list, many guilty ones, finally exposed, and a few innocent ones, burned alive at the media stake”can we read in the description of it.

Saturday November 9, 2024, for Le Télégramme, Caroline Fourest estimated that the best way to use the MeToo revolution was not to use it indiscriminately. “Listening is finally here but, among all, we mix a necessary debate on predators, rapists and the protection of victims with all matters involving seduction and sexuality. We grope to find the limits between an accusation to be publicized in order to break impunity and a settling of scores or an abusive accusation”she confided.
