A friendship that began at school… Thursday October 3, 2024, Michel Blanc died at the age of 72 at Saint-Antoine hospital, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. The actor developed angioedema shortly after arriving at a radiology office as part of a routine exam. Then, he succumbed to his 6th cardiac arrest, as reported by Marianne magazine. An emblematic member of the Splendid troupe, he was particularly close to Josiane Balasko. His oldest friend, however, remains Gérard Jugnot. In his last interview, published by Paris Match on Monday October 7, 2024, the actor remembered: “I was at the Pasteur high school (in Neuilly-sur-Seine) sitting in class next to Gérard. He already wanted to be a director in cinema, so he took me with him to the Chaillot cinema library to see films. Very quickly, I understood that I wanted to be an actor. He and I found common ground. we talked a lot, we also laughed a lot and that gave us a taste for comedy.” Although they experienced a lot together and spoke to each other on numerous occasions, the two friends saw each other less today. However, Gérard Jugnot was deeply upset upon learning of the disappearance of the man who was also very close to Jean-Paul Rouve.
