With Camilla absent, the royal family has everything planned: who is Birgitte van Deurs, the queen's replacement?

New fear for the kingdom. The information fell this Tuesday, November 5: Queen Camilla was put on rest by her doctors due to a lung infection. She is under medical supervision. This is why she had to cancel some of her commitments during the week. But the royal family is very well organized because a replacement has been designated: Birgitte van Deurs.

She is the wife of Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. She is thus Duchess of Gloucester, and therefore an active member of the royal family.

This November 7, she gathered in front of Westminster Abbey, in place of the wife of King Charles who was to keep this commitment. Every year, on the Thursday before Remembrance Sunday, Queen Camilla visits the Field of Remembrance. As recalled Royal Storiesthis field is a garden at Westminster Abbey which is covered with wooden crosses and poppies by the Poppy Factory (a charity which creates poppies, namely artificial poppies, which appear on a whole series of accessories, mainly buttonholes, sold on the occasion of Remembrance Sunday.

Queen Camilla at rest, should we be worried?

But what is Remembrance Sunday? It is a national commemoration in memory of members of the armed forces of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth who have lost their lives in conflict or war. Members of the British royal family pay tribute to their victims with two minutes of silence, as well as with the laying of poppy wreaths and a ceremonial parade of thousands of veterans.

Coming back to Camilla's state of health, we ultimately don't know much about it. But everything suggests that it is not that serious. Because in the announcement of its withdrawal, there is talk of a “short rest period” before she makes her big return to the forefront. Hoping that this hypothesis is the right one. On the other hand, if she is not in top form currently, Kate Middleton, she (who is fighting against cancer), has regained momentum. This is in any case what Prince William indicated during his visit to South Africa in recent days.
