Marlène Jobert: Why are her two twin daughters so opposed, one a glamorous actress, the other a down-to-earth winegrower?

She left the movie sets in 1989 with a film with the predestined title, Storks do as they please in which she played a woman having difficulty conceiving. Paradoxically, it was after this last feature film that Marlène Jobert decided to comply with the requests of her twins Eva Green and Joy, then aged nine, and to no longer be absent from the family home to film.

I always had a hard time leaving Eva and Joyremembered Marlène a few years ago in the magazine The Inrockuptibles. I left for filming with soles of lead! The day I decided to quit my acting career, that day Eva and Joy had imprisoned me in their little arms to prevent me from leaving… Arriving at the bottom of the building, I went back up to tell them that the film I was making would be the last. And I kept my word.” A decision taken in agreement with her husband and their father, Walter Green, a Swedish dental surgeon who still shares her life.

Since then, the Algerian native has accepted a few rare roles on television. Above all, she put her talents as a storyteller, developed over years with her daughters, to the service of recording records intended for the general public. Successfully since she sold some more than 15 million copies across the world in forty years!

Eva Green follows in the footsteps of Marlène Jobert

I love it when my mother plays witches, told Eva Green in 2018 to Match. She does it extremely well, with a very nasal accent. As a child, I always asked him for new stories, terrible ones if possible. I loved being scared, but it had to end well. It was a great luxury to have a mother with so much imagination!

This talent certainly influenced Eva in her career choice. In 2001, at the age of 21, she debuted as an actress in the film The Pianist by Michael Haneke. Since then, it has attracted directors as different as Tim Burton, Ridley Scott and Roman Polanski. The ex-James Bond girl Casino Royale (2006) was also nominated in 2020 for the César for best actress after winning a Bafta (the English equivalent of the Césars) in 2007. Having no children (“I think it is possible for a woman to realize herself without“) and living in London, Eva Green is divided between England, Paris and Hollywood. A place where she is unlikely to meet her sister Joy!

After studying business, this discreet blonde settled in , near her parents' house. Passionate about horses, she created a thoroughbred stud farm there. However, Joy now lives in Italy. For what ? Because she met love in the person of a handsome Transalpine named Niccolo Marzichi Lenzi. Originally from western Tuscany, he returned there with his lover when their first child, Giulio, was born. A few years later, a little brother, Vittorio, arrived.

“They each have their own universe”

The family is dedicated to operating the Crocine wine estate where one of the best Chianti in Italy is produced. “Our two children accompany me to the cellar to help me pump over or to check the wine in the barrel. This is the beginning of a dream that I share with my wife Joy“, explains Niccolo on the domain's website.

The latter belongs to a large family of wine growers. After traveling a lot around the world, after the birth of his first child, he decided to settle down with his wife Joy. On Instagram, Joy's lover doesn't hesitate to ask Eva Green to promote his wine. She also lends herself to it with humor.

Like all parents, Marlène Jobert is surprised that the same education gives two such contrasting personalities. “They are different in character, but they have in common that they are serious, hardworking, reserved, she analyzed in Paris Match. Neither of them are extroverts. Joy is Cartesian and organized; Eva is artistic and fanciful. There was never any rivalry or jealousy between them. They each have their own universe. I constantly tell them that we must learn to play down the drama, that failures are necessary to progress. I remind them that life is short.

An auntie cake

As life is also too short to cut yourself off from your family for long. Eva regularly visits Joy in Italy where she loves having fun with her nephews Vittorio and Guilio. Since everything does not oppose them, far from it, she also shares her twin sister's passion for nature. Her favorite countries are South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Rwanda where she likes to admire the gorillas.

Eva could have been a very good doctor or nurse. She is very attentive to others. She is able to go out of her way to help the people she loves.“, compliments Marlène Jobert. She doesn't think she's saying that well. In her next film, Dirty Angelsthe actress will play a female soldier providing medical relief in Afghanistan.
