The artistic director of Louis Vuitton's men's collections was bombarded with criticism for his clothing choice on the Graham Norton Show, broadcast on Friday November 1 on the BBC.
The artistic director of Louis Vuitton's men's collections is not immune to certain controversies. Guest of the Graham Norton Show on Friday, November 1 on the BBC, Pharrell Williams appeared in a (yet usual) outfit consisting of light jeans, a polo shirt and a navy blue zipped jacket. The artist, however, accessorized his outfit with a cap and sunglasses, thus hiding his eyes. A choice that did not please viewers.
“I have a lot of respect for Pharrell Williams as a musician, but I lose interest when someone wears sunglasses on a show like this,” a user named Pete commented. And dozens of others chimed in: “I’m sorry, but how rude is Pharrell sitting there with his sunglasses on? So disrespectful” ; “Why is he wearing sunglasses inside?” ; “I know he’s cool, but please!!!”, we can read in particular on social networks.
Synesthesia, a mixture of the senses
Pharrell Williams, 51, came to defend the release of his new animated biopic, Piece By Piece (available November 20 in France), telling the story behind the scenes of his rise, in which he reveals in particular that he suffers from synesthesia, a little-known syndrome allowing one to associate colors with sounds, numbers or letters of the alphabet. A theme also addressed during the show, by presenter Graham Norton. “It’s not something you see with your eyes, it’s more a view of the mind,” he tried to explain. Can this justify the sunglasses that the designer and musician wore on the television set? Still, they seem to be one of his favorite accessories for him. Pharrell always shows up with bold pairs of glasses that add a touch of glamor to his often more street. Maybe he should have just opted for tinted glasses.
