The upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic is revealed with a very first image. We see Jeremy Allen White, the star of the series The Bearblending into the skin of the American singer. The film, titled Deliver Me from Nowherewill be released “in theaters in 2025”, announce 20th Century Studios in the caption of the photo.
Disheveled hair, flannel shirt and leather jacket: in this first photo, the 33-year-old actor adopts the appearance of the Boss in the 1980s, the period during which the plot of the biopic takes place.
Because as Variety reports, Deliver Me From Nowhere is adapted from the book of the same title by Warren Zanes, in which the author traces the creation of NebraskaBruce Springsteen's sixth album released in 1982.
“(The recording of 'Nebraska') marked a pivotal period in Bruce Springsteen's life, one that he would not openly discuss until decades later,” read a statement from 20th Century.
“(This disc) is seen as a major landmark in his musical odyssey and constitutes a source of inspiration for an entire generation of artists and musicians. (….) Nebraska is considered one of Springsteen's most timeless works. A raw and haunted acoustic record, populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.”
The Boss consulted
Bruce Springsteen and his longtime manager Jon Landau are both involved in the project, as the film's writer and director Scott Cooper explains: “Collaborating with Bruce and Jon to tell their story has been a great pleasure, and their energy creativity is infused throughout this project.”
Last September, at the Emmy Awards ceremony (during which he was crowned best actor in a comedy series for The Bear), Jeremy Allen White spoke to Deadline about this upcoming biopic:
“I can’t wait to get started,” he said. “We're going to start (filming) soon. I don't want to say too much. It feels weird (talking about it) before it's even started.”
Bruce Springsteen, 75, is currently on a world tour starting in 2023 with the E Street Band, a rock band with whom he has collaborated since 1972. The show, performed at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre on May 13 and 15, 2023, will be held again by France with two dates at the Pierre Mauroy stadium in Lille on May 24 and 27, 2025, then at the Vélodrome in Marseille on May 31.
This monster tour was the subject of a documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Bandavailable since Friday October 25 on Disney+.
