Dominique Lagrou-Sempère abandoned and abandoned by loved ones: 5 years after the ordeal, the widow of Claude Sempère celebrates a great victory

Five years after the disappearance of her husband, the journalist Claude Sempère, Dominique Lagrou-Sempère, had to undertake a long process of reconstruction. On X, this Friday, November 1, she takes stock of recent years. In particular of the absence of certain relatives and friends who had sworn to support her. She thus points the finger at the authors of “sentences scribbled on the guest book at the entrance to the nave.” But also all those who promised to help him in this ordeal: “There are those who came and never returned“, she laments. And to stigmatize some in passing: “Those who looked good. Those who disappeared. The not very brave ones. The socially correct. Those who betrayed me”.

But perhaps more hurtful than the absence, there is the slander of these supporters. The criticisms were able to directly affect the widow, in particular by attacking her personal life, she who had the chance to reconnect with love in the arms of a man. “She quickly fell in love again, I mean!”, a detractor would have written. “You know what? replies the person concerned on life naturally sorts things out. And reveals those who touch the heart and who remain or appear on the path. Mine.

This is not the only angle of attack of his detractors. Some also questioned her ability to bounce back professionally. “She won't be able to do it alone. Her chain won't work. It's too fragile” she was able to read or hear. Indeed, in 2021, 20 years after her debut on TF1, the journalist leaves the channel. She was however the favorite to resume the presentation of the 1 p.m. news after Jean-Pierre Pernaut , but the editorial team chose Marie-Sophie Lacarrau No matter, Dominique Lagrou-Sempère chose entrepreneurship. by founding his Youtube channel Between you and me. A new human adventure to get back on track, as much as possible. A victory above all and a revenge against all those who doubted her.

Claude Sempère and Dominique Lagrou-Sempère, a broken love story

Claude Sempere was a renowned journalist. This great reporter had worked for 2, for the famous show Special Envoy notably. His talent led him to be rewarded with an Albert-London audiovisual prizethe holy grail of field journalists. Life had offered him the opportunity to meet a colleague, Dominique Lagrou. It was during an internship of the latter at France 2 that their love story began. Although their careers have had different trajectories (Dominique preferring to officiate on the TF1 channel), they have built a family together with the birth of their two children Mathilda and Esteban.

But since 2019, the family has had to learn to live without the beloved father figure of Claude Sempère. The journalist had begun a long struggle with cancer two years earlier. Despite a long and valiant resistance, the illness had finally won on November 29, 2019. He was only 55 years old at the time.

Tributes multiplied to pay tribute to the memory of this talented reporter. Even the Élysée had honored “his moral rectitude, the rigor of his investigations, the precision of his comments, but also the immense empathy with which he questioned the women and men who were the victims, witnesses or heroes of the often tragic events that he had the responsibility to report to one's fellow citizens”. A text then shared by his wife.
