Maxime regularly shares his photos with more than a thousand Internet users who follow him on his FB page, Max Photography.
You just have to look through it to realize to what extent the young photographer develops a relationship of trust with his models, and especially with the foxes. The first people he saw in our region, Max spent two years observing them and seeing the family grow before immortalizing them on the memory card of his camera. We understand the pain he felt when he learned that his favorite vixen had been trapped and killed by a “gamekeeper”.
A park where animals live in peace
The photo which illustrates this article was not taken here but in Italy, in the Abruzzo National Park. Where animals do not have to fear being used as targets for hunters for the good and sound reason that hunting is prohibited there.
As the wildlife photographer writes: “The biggest threat to foxes is obviously humans who hunt them for their skin, for pleasure or to supposedly “control the fox population.” In captivity, this type of fox can live up to 15 years while its life expectancy in nature is only 2 to 3 years! Fortunately there are still places like Abruzzo where every living being has the right to live in peace, even foxes.”
Also, when it is done with mutual respect, each encounter is magical and the rapprochement between two beings, animal and human, is intended to be a concrete reality that we would also like to be able to experience at home. We will perhaps get there one day knowing that (Walloon) parliamentarians have already pleaded in favor of protecting foxes in Wallonia as is the case in the Brussels capital region.
So, perhaps we will see a proliferation of images as beautiful as the one which illustrates this article and which we owe to a friend of Maxime, also an animal photographer, Wennaël Gossart from Hasnon, near Valenciennes.
