Exceptional guest of the podcast “The Pivot”, the former American president gave himself up to confidences that were as funny as they were astonishing.
As the US presidential election fast approaches, Barack Obama, unwavering support of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, recently participated in the podcast “The Pivot” hosted by former American Football players Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder.
“I was an ordinary guy”
After recounting how he suddenly became very attractive to women when he joined the Miami Dolphins team, the latter asked Barack Obama about the changes that fame had brought to him when he was preparing to become 44th President of the United States. The opportunity for the politician to deliver a rather unusual anecdote.
“First of all, I don't know if Michelle is going to watch this,” he joked, before addressing the three athletes: “The truth is, as NFL players and athletes (National American Football League, Editor’s note.)you become famous quite young, at a stage in your life where this type of attention can be flattering, amusing. However, when people found out who I was, I was already 43 years old. I was married, had two children, went shopping and washed my car. In that sense, I was an ordinary guy,” Barack Obama insisted.
“No effect”
“These expressions of interest, at the time I received them, had no effect on me. Some women sometimes behaved inappropriately. There are, for example, photos of women feeling my buttocks circulating on the Internet, even though I was already president at the time,” he recalled with a laugh, explaining that his bodyguards did not had not intervened because they were “elderly women whom they could not have pinned to the ground”.
Married to Michelle Obama for 32 years, Barack Obama is the father of two daughters, Malia and Sasha, who were 10 and 7 years old respectively when he won the 2008 presidential election, forcing the entire family to move into the White House. He was 47 years old at the time, making him one of the country's youngest presidents.
