The last legislative elections deeply divided the French. Faced with the rise of the National Rally, many personalities spoke out to block the far right.
Lucas Hauchard, better known under the pseudonym Squeezie, notably spoke out by writing a “open letter to all young people who [le] follow“.
Squeezie: a committed YouTuber
“I never wanted to talk to you about politics and get into party politics, because everyone is the master of their own convictions and I don't want mine to influence yours. Whether you vote left, right, or center, it only concerns you and your ideas.“, he wrote.
And added: “I think that strongly oppose extreme ideology that advocates hatred and discrimination goes beyond any political position.”
Squeezie then rolled out a whole argument against the RN. “This movement has unfortunately been trivialized, while history, even recent history, has already shown us the dangers and serious consequences of the arrival of an extreme right party in power“.
The YouTuber also pointed out the popularity of Jordan Bardella on social networks: “In recent years, the RN has succeeded in smoothing out its image and pretending that it is not a far-right party. Via less violent speeches, via putting forward a candidate with whom young people can identify (Jordan Bardella). And above all via ultra-controlled communication on social networks, particularly on TikTok.“
“The RN will not help you“, concluded Squeezie. Although his speech was strongly criticized, he does not regret its content.

“Honestly, I did it just to say to myself: 'actually with the influence I have, I can't not say anything in relation to what is happening which I consider to be very serious“, he told Elise Lucet this Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Although he does not regret speaking out, Squeezie nevertheless admits that the subject is particularly sensitive.
“I especially didn't want to appear moralistic. or haughty or judging people just because they have a different opinion. I just wanted to be factual: 'This is what is happening, this is what happened in the past, this is what has just happened in other countries where these regimes have existed. But if you still don't agree with that, there's no problem: everyone has their own way of thinking.“. That's what it says!
