A bronze by Constantin Meunier for the Metropolitan

18/10/24 Acquisitions – New York, The Metropolitan Museum of The Metropolitan Museum of Art adds an iconic work by Belgian sculptor Constantin Meunier to its collection of European sculptures, The Port of Antwerp Tank Top (ill. 1). A piece all the more important as it is one of the rare bronzes executed during the lifetime of the artist of wax sculpture which he first exhibited at the Salon des XX in 1885 in Brussels. It was acquired from the Brussels dealer Thomas Deprez who presented it during the last edition of Tefaf.
