The group One Direction has spoken out following the disappearance of their former member, Liam Payne, who died on Wednesday October 16 at the age of 31.
“A brother” gone too soon. Boy band One Direction members Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles have paid tribute to their former bandmate Liam Payne, who died on Wednesday October 16 at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
“We are completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone can, there will be more to say, but for now, we will take the time to grieve and get over the loss of our brother, whom we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam”, we can read in the joint press release signed “Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry”.
Louis Tomlinson was the first to share a personal tribute, relaying a photo of him and Liam Payne on stage in 2015 via Instagram. “I am beyond devastated to write this, but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was someone I looked up to every day, such a positive, funny and kind soul,” the singer wrote.
“I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me, I will be the uncle he needs in his life and I will tell him how amazing his father was. I wish I had the chance to say goodbye and tell you once again how much I loved you. Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you buddy. Sleep well X,” he added.
“I will always miss him, my lovely friend”
Minutes later, Zayn Malik also paid tribute, with a photo of them sleeping together, confiding: “Liam, I found myself talking to you out loud, hoping you could hear me. I can’t help but selfishly think that there are so many other conversations to be had in our lives. I have never been able to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times of my life.
“I lost a brother when you left us and I can’t explain to you what I would give to give you one last hug and say goodbye properly and tell you that I loved and respected you deeply. I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there are no words to justify or explain how I feel right now, other than the fact that I am beyond devastated.” continued the artist.
Zayn Malik concluded by saying, “I hope that wherever you are right now, you are okay, at peace, and know how much you are loved. I love you, my brother.”
As for Harry Styles, he revealed that he was “truly devastated by the death” of his friend. “Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had a contagious energy for life. He was warm, supportive and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever be among the most cherished years of my life. I will always miss him, my lovely friend,” the musician captioned a photo of Liam Payne performing in front of a crowd.
“My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Rush, his son Bear and everyone around the world who knew and loved him, like me,” he concluded.
Liam Payne, aged 31, died on Wednesday October 16 of “internal and external” hemorrhages after a fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
One Direction enjoyed success together from 2010 to 2015, releasing five albums before going on an indefinite hiatus, following the departure of Zayn Malik.
