“It’s quite an outlet to play a bad woman, because it’s a bit taboo. Let’s say you arrive home as soft as a lamb in the evening,” explains Julie du Page in an interview with The Journal from , where she accompanies her daughter Billie, 20, who sang in the first part of Cœur de Pirate.

At the time of writing these lines, we still know little about the background to this story of violence between his character and that played by actor Stéphane Gagnon in the legal series.

The actress warns us: this plot may not be as simple as it seems.

“There will be lots of twists and turns! This is not necessarily what we saw at the beginning… I also wanted to play on the ambiguity which means that she is perhaps not the aggressor… I did not want to systematically present her as an aggressor, but rather as a victim,” explains the 52-year-old artist without wanting to reveal too much.

She still drew on the energy of the Machiavellian Valérie Nantel, her character in the series Launch and count: the reconquest, to build part of his character.

“He’s a rich character, there’s meat around the bone. I had a lot of it for my pleasure,” adds the one who was filming for the very first time with actor Stéphane Gagnon.

For the record, it was the intense assault scene at the hotel that was their first meeting on camera.

“It wasn’t easy, but there was a choreographer with us to plan the movements and make sure we didn’t get hurt. It breaks the ice, let’s say. Stéphane is super nice and gentle,” she says.

She also found it “impressive and a little unsettling” to see herself made up with a black eye, knowing that this is a reality experienced by some women.

An unexpected gift

This character allowed him to rediscover the camaraderie and family atmosphere of a television set. What was missing from the actress who completed the 5e and final year of the series 5e rang last March.

From this fortnight of filming, Julie du Page remembers beautiful emotional scenes shared with Sébastien Delorme, the sincere listening of the directors, the congratulations of her peers (including Charles Lafortune, the producer), the foray into the world of lawyers which has always fascinated her (she had been admitted to law before leaning towards acting) and the luck of being offered this role without an audition, in an unexpected way.

“It was given to me and it’s a wonderful gift. There is a lot of struggle in this profession, there are few roles and few gifts. I have a lot of recognition and I hope that this will lead to something else,” adds the actress who has also been a muse for Lancôme for three years.
