“It’s luck, not just talent”: Julien Doré pays a beautiful tribute to the Nouvelle Star, who launched his career

Singer Julien Doré is about to go out “Impostor“, an album of covers that revisits iconic hits while paying tribute to his journey.

A return to basics for Julien Doré

Guest on the set of Daily this Monday, October 14, Julien Doré spoke to Yann Barthès about his career and his new musical project. When the host reminded him of his victory in Nouvelle Star, emphasizing that he was “one of the rare ones not to deny his past and his time on a TV show”, the singer responded with sincerity.

I have great respect for these memories, for the show. I never, even when I started writing and composing my songs, I never wanted to say ‘oh but it’s behind me, I don’t want to talk about it anymore’. That’s probably also why the album is there. It’s a way of remembering where I come from. And it came down to a first name and a number for which you had to vote. I can’t forget that.” confides Julien Doré.

Aware of the part of luck in his success, Julien Doré added: “It’sIt’s not just talent. No, it’s lucky. It’s actually a stroke of luck. Which is not due to me, which is due to the people who were willing to text for me.”

Asked about the nostalgia he might feel, the artist confided: “Those were incredible memories that built who I am today. There is nostalgia but I try to shake it with a smile; to say that those moments made the guy I am and It’s all joyous.”

“Imposter”: a bold and eclectic concept

In a video published on YouTube on June 24, 2024, Julien Doré presented his new project entitled “Imposter”. This album, scheduled for November 8, offers an original concept: covers of songs from various musical universes.

The 41-year-old artist tackles iconic titles such as “As long as they are sweet” by Mylène Farmer, “The kiffance“from Naps,”All the women in your life” of L5, “Die on stage” by Dalida, “The Midnight Demons” from the Images group, or “Femme like U” by K-Maro.

Julien Doré explains his approach: “Revisiting the songs of others, by transforming the approach to them, was profoundly new for the time. ‘Imposter’ is a full circle almost 20 years later, has the barrette rusted in this hair which has thrust, in an era which no longer knows how to distinguish false from true, beautiful from ugly, imposture from legitimacy.”

Prestigious and unexpected collaborations

L’album “Impostor” is also distinguished by his surprising collaborations. Julien Doré managed to convince renowned artists to participate in his project. Thus, he performs “A Happy Man” by William Sheller in a duet with Francis Cabrel, “Sara because I love you” by Ricchi e Poveri with Hélène Ségara, and even “Words, words”a hit made famous by Dalida and Alain Delon, with Hollywood actress Sharon Stone.
