Théo Curin recalls the sacrifice of his mother after the amputation of her four limbs: “Every day we had to…”

Yet another delicate subject which was highlighted on 5. On October 8, 2024, the fifth channel broadcast Helpers, it’s time to help them, a program presented by Théo Curin. To record the different episodes, Clémentine Célarié and Bruno Solo agreed to spend several hours experiencing the daily life of caregivers of sick or disabled people. The tandem had to accomplish countless essential daily tasks, as essential as they were difficult, such as washing, traveling or even eating.

A situation that the host of Slam and disabled swimmer Théo Curin knows it well having experienced it during his life. Having turned his disability into a strength, the person concerned contracted bacterial meningitis at the age of six. A serious and potentially fatal pathology. To save his life, doctors had no choice but to amputate his four limbs. The actor then had to learn to get around in a wheelchair before opting for prosthetics.

My mom stopped working to take care of me for several years“, explained the athlete on the set of This evening.I was in the machine, and I didn’t necessarily realize what it was really doing for me (…). But I saw what she did, for care, for prostheses (…)“. As he pointed out on camera, his mother was constantly on all fronts.

Every day, beyond the care, she also had to take care of my sister, take care of the house. Administrative procedures, and she worked much more than an average person in an office“, explained Théo Curin. “These two episodes allowed me to understand, to discover what the daily life of a caregiver really is.”

A difficult daily life brilliantly handled by his mother

With “this program“, the companion of Marie-Camille Fabas wanted above all”to raise awareness” ses pairs. “Hide nothing, write nothing, there is no fiction, everything was natural, everything was shown“, confided the famous sportsman. In his eyes, valuing professional caregivers in the future can make all the difference. He also observed this with his mother, who courageously had to take on several roles, without blinking an eyelid for help on your own scale.

She returned to work very late, and it’s true that at one point, even I, despite my young age, noticed a kind of exhaustion in her, you could feel it when I saw her (.. .) and it’s true that at some point, maybe she lost her role as a mother.”

It can help the whole family

Philosophically, Eugénie Vincent’s ex-boyfriend concluded: “SIf we had had someone professional at our disposal, who just came to the house from time to time for very specific tasks (…) and when they were finished, this would have allowed her to return home too, that would have helped us. That’s also the goal of this program, it’s to show that there are things and that we need to put it in place because it can relieve everyone, the whole family.”
