VIDEO. With this video, producer Albina du Boisrouvray highlights sexism on TV in the 70s

“I wanted young women to see what we had been faced with,” explains Albina du Boisrouvray. This former film producer in the 1970s and 80s likes to share her memories on the social network TikTok to her more than 140,000 followers. And the one she posted on September 30 particularly sparked a reaction… The octogenarian unearthed a video archive where we see her being interviewed about her job alongside screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière. At the time, the presenter asked the screenwriter if he could work with the producer.

Jean-Claude Carrière responds in the negative, arguing that she “does not smoke cigars”. And added: “We rather want to take her dancing. (…) I have the impression that she uses a bit of her charm in business, right? » asks the guest. “Taking her dancing, what does that actually mean? It’s taking her dancing, then taking her f**king afterwards eh. I was amazed when I found this extract, that’s why I posted it. This kind of talk was totally normal at the time,” the former producer, who has always fought for women’s rights, comments with annoyance.

“Reviewing this archive which dates back to fifty years ago allows us to realize how far we have come,” she analyzes. Fortunately today, we could never say that again on French television.” Watch our interview at the top of the article.
