Change of life for Patrick Sabatier: this sacrifice that he is not ready to make to be with his family

On the occasion of the release of his new book Don’t tell Paul (published by Éditions du Rocher, October 9, 2024), Patrick Sabatier was the guest of Buzz TV. And the 72-year-old former presenter returned to his withdrawal from the air.

Patrick Sabatier is one of the emblematic figures of French television. In the 80s, he enjoyed success on TF1 with Wanted notice, Trump Heart or even The Truth Game. He then worked on cable channels from 1995 to 2008, then landed on 2 until 2016. He was notably entrusted with the game Password until 2016. And for a year, he played on C8. At the same time, he had experiences on the radio over all these years.

Patrick Sabatier refuses to return to television or radio

But since his departure from C8, Patrick Sabatier is no longer on television and radio. However, he receives proposals, as he confided to journalists from TV Mag.I have been offered radio and TV again recently. I’m proud of it, but I’m in my seventies now. I have to decide who to distribute my time to. Should I continue doing radio? Should I do television? Should I stay with my family?“, he asked himself. His choice was finally obvious: “I made a choice today. I think I have been very spoiled in my career and for the time I have left – which I hope is as long as possible – I believe that my life balance is the most important and I don’t want to destroy it. I want to spend time with my wife, children and grandchildren.”

Let us remember that Patrick Sabatier is the happy father of Thomas and Margaux, the fruit of his union with his wife of more than thirty years Isabelle Laburthe. “We laugh and have blues together. She is the one I know best and in whom I trust completely. At the time of my ouster from TF1, she reassured me about my future and told me that this bad moment would not last my whole life. She pushed me not to cut myself off from everything“, he confided to Gala in 2008.
