Vanessa Paradis, Charlotte Casiraghi, Lupita Nyong’o… the ballet of stars at the Opera gala

An audience of stars attended the 10th edition of the opening gala of the dance season of the National Opera. The evening, sponsored by the Chanel and Rolex houses, unveiled an original 2024-2025 program combining creation and new entries in the repertoire.

On the evening of October 1, 2024, the last day of Paris Fashion Week, the worlds of art and fashion came together at the Palais Garnier for the 10th dance gala. For ten years, in fact, celebrities, patrons, star dancers and passionate audiences have been impatiently awaiting this glamorous meeting, in long dresses and tuxedos, the highlight of the Parisian back-to-school season.

Among the most notable guests, there was Vanessa Paradis, all in fuchsia, accompanied by her mother. But also Charlotte Casiraghi, Virginie Ledoyen and Clémence Poésy. They also met that same morning, at the Grand Palais, during the Chanel Spring Summer 2025 ready-to-wear show.

While the stars Dorothée Gilbert, Guillaume Diop and Hugo Marchand lent themselves to the photographers’ game, the general director of the Paris National Opera, Alexander Neef, and José Martinez, the dance director, welcomed the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, very elegant in her black maxi skirt suit.

The program began with the traditional Ballet parade bringing together on stage the stars, the principal dancers, the corps de Ballet, the students of the Dance School, and for the first time the Junior Ballet, created this year .

It continued with the creation Word for Word by My’Kal Stromile, in Chanel costumes, and by two works by William Forsythe: Rearraya piece created in 2011 which entered the repertoire in a new version, and Blake Works Icreated for the Opera Ballet in 2016 with electro music by James Blake.

Word for Word is the first creation by choreographer My’Kal Stromile for the Paris Opera.

Finally, the dancers performed, for the first time, Impasse by Swedish choreographer Johan Inger, who questions the relationship between the group and the individual, to colorful music by Ibrahim Maalouf and Amos Ben-Tal.

At the end of the show, nearly 750 guests shared a dinner signed by Pierre Touitou, James Henry, Sandra Mielenhausen and Nicolas Rozier-Chabert.
