“I felt like I was slowly dying”: this adventurer from Koh Lanta, the cursed tribe, went through hell, but he is ready to return to a strange condition

Gustin, 26, is one of the 24 candidates for the 26th season of Koh Lanta, the cursed tribe. Competitive, determined to win the prize, he first trusted his sporting and physical qualities before thinking about the implications that life on an island could bring. In an interview, the one who is targeted by rumors of a relationship with another candidate recently spoke about what he describes as the worst experience of his life.

It was misery

Filmed in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, this new season, still presented by Denis Brogniart, offers breathtaking panoramas every Tuesday. A treat for viewers, therefore, but one which the candidates struggle to enjoy, busy trying to satisfy their hunger. “Apart from hearts of palm, we had nothing else to eat. I suffered a lot from hunger“, confides Gustin to 7 Days TV. Having an empty stomach, especially in a humid environment where the body is constantly under strain, is also a guarantee of seeing it give out before our eyes. “I hurt everywhere. I felt like I was slowly dying. I could no longer get up, except to go and compete in the tests.“, he adds.

Torn by hunger, he confides that the prospect of not being able to give everything to help his team win was a real morale blow for him. Constantly exhausted, he says he thought of his teammates. “Out of respect for them, I had to fight. I then regained a little energy and, as soon as the game was over, I went back to bed. It was really hard“.

Despite being a great wanderer, the difficult conditions took over!

His lack of preparation for the difficulty of a forty-day life in hostile terrain did not, however, make him really anxious. He confides: “Above all, I love nature, going on expeditions and fending for myself. I got into the habit of posting videos on the networks in which I explained the basics of survival (making a fire, fishing, building a shelter, etc.). My publications were popular and some subscribers suggested I try Koh-Lanta. The idea started like that… (…) It’s true. But I thought that with my knowledge, I would be able to survive on a desert island.“. Unfortunately for him, another continent, another type of survival! And, unluckily for Gustin, he was not sufficiently prepared for Philippine conditions.

Despite this complicated experience, the candidate would be ready to participate in a new season, but on one condition: “Koh-Lanta is the worst experience of my life. But if, in the contract, I am promised a delivery of hamburgers every day, I will think“. We therefore have very little chance of seeing Gustin again one day in Koh Lanta.
