Théo Curin: Why wouldn’t he want his legs, hands and feet back?

Since September 9, Théo Curin has taken over the reins of one of the most emblematic shows on television: Slam. Indeed, while Cyril Féraud flew to ensure the animation of Everyone wants to take their place that Jarry left him to devote himself to his personal projects, the former sportsman happily replaced him at the helm of the game show. A role that seems to suit him perfectly since he will also host Helpers, it’s time to help themthis Tuesday, October 8 on 5. A few weeks ago, he also participated in the opening of the Paralympic Games.

To come back to his story, Théo Curin could have lost his life at just six years old. At the time, he was affected by bacterial meningitis. A diagnosis made after he underwent a lumbar puncture because he was unwell. His life prognosis was then in jeopardy, the disease causing necrosis of his limbs. The doctors then made the decision to amputate all four of his limbs.

Théo Curin would not want to change anything in his life

In 2022, during an interview for Sept à Huit on TF1, the young man confided in this feat that he carried out the previous year: crossing Lake Titicaca between Bolivia and Peru, i.e. 108 kilometers, in eleven days. An absolutely crazy feat during which he admits to having believed “pass there”. “I was afraid of giving up, I was afraid of failing”he confided to Audrey Crespo-Mara’s microphone. However, he did it, and this is also one of the reasons why Théo Curin would not want to change anything in his life, not even his disability.

“You write that if by a wave of a magic wand a sorcerer had the power to give you back your arms, your hands, your legs, your feet, you wouldn’t want it, why?”the journalist asked. And the Slam presenter responds: “Today, I have this body, it has allowed me to think differently about life, and life is about encounters and it is solely based on love and I would change my life for anything in the world . I am very very very happy.”. Words that might surprise some people but which ring so true in the mouth of Théo Curin.
