Tense exchange between Dany Turcotte and Guy A. Lepage on the set of Tout le monde en parole

Dany Turcotte made his big return to the set of Tout le monde entalk, Sunday evening, who was received to talk about his new book D. Turcotte & fils.

The one who was crazy about the king of the show for 17 years alongside Guy A. Lepage opened up with great transparency in an interview that was highly anticipated. True to form, Dany was a golden guest who took us through the full range of emotions.

But Dany and Guy A. had a tense exchange, while both remaining respectful, when they returned to the end of their association on Tout le monde en parole.

On the Everyone Talks About Facebook page we can read:

“In his biography, Dany Turcotte opens up about his childhood and adolescence in Saguenay, his love life, his professional life and his departure from Tout le monde en parole. After the break, the jester takes his place in the guest chair”

In his book, Dany Turcotte makes major revelations about his departure from Tout le monde en talks. Guy A. Lepage also admitted that the whole team was shocked when they read the book.

The host confided to his former jester that the team was disappointed to learn everything in his book and not directly from his mouth.

“Dany, in your book you talk about Everyone Talks About It. You occupied the chair of jester for 16 and a half years. In your book, you seem to have a big heart about Everyone Talks About It. Besides, I will admit to you that the whole team was shaken and surprised by certain passages which concern our show. »

We also felt Guy A. Lepage quite irritated during the interview.

We remember that it was in the middle of a pandemic, when the news was highly anxiety-provoking and the show had changed its format to go live that Dany Turcotte decided to leave his role of the king’s fool, following a controversy sparked by a clumsy joke.

“Just seeing this again, it breaks my heart! “, declared Dany while reviewing the images in question. Ten days later, he came to explain his departure on the set of Everyone Talks About it by affirming that he had not had pressure from anyone and that it was only a personal decision taken for his well-being.

Comments that he refutes in his book, saying instead that he left reluctantly.

“Actually, I wish I hadn’t gone that way.” I wish it had happened differently. I would have liked to discuss it. We didn’t communicate much within the team. Not the whole team, I’m talking about the hard core. »

“I was in a very difficult state, things were going very badly, my role was increasingly difficult to play, it was the pandemic, these were serious subjects, I had asked if it was possible to give a question to have a reason to be there, a reason to exist on the show. I felt like a green plant. »

“I left reluctantly, it’s a show that I love Guy! I love the team, I was happy here for 16 years. I felt good and it hurt me to leave the same way. »

Hearing him speak, it is clear that the numerous scandals which marked his years as the King’s Jester at Tout le monde en parole had a profound impact on him. And in the end, it was just too much.

“It’s definitely not an easy role, and I realized it even more once I left. I watched others do it. I watched others skate on thin ice, it’s difficult, we move forward, we move back, we don’t dare, we hold back, we don’t ask questions. And we are afraid of the pitfalls, we are afraid of what will happen during the week. »

“Still, for the team, to learn it in the book rather than learning it from you, I will admit to you that in the team people found it difficult,” declared the host to his former accomplice.

“I remember you being really distressed by the very mean comments you were receiving. When you left, you got a kind of burst of love from the public. And I told you it’s not because you left, the breath of love was always there. But you were just reading the negative comments. »

In his book, Dany Turcotte criticizes Guy A. Lepage and the production team of Tout le monde en parole for many things. “Looking back, I have the impression that someone watched me drown without throwing a buoy at me,” he says in particular.

Dany Turcotte made it clear that he had absolutely nothing to reproach the research team. “Besides, I pay tribute to them in the book. All the teamwork behind this show is, for me, one of the most beautiful things. Besides, I reproach you, I say that you should start the show by saying OUR guests this evening rather than MY guests this evening, because it is a job for 80 people. »

The former king’s fool, however, admits that he has a large share of responsibility. “I didn’t ask for help, I should have asked for it, I should have said that I was not comfortable with the pandemic formula. Every week I started to get anxious on Thursday and I wasn’t feeling well. I should have talked about it more and I should have asked the team to help me more. »

Among the things that Dany Turcotte criticizes Guy A. Lepage, there is the fact of not having cut during editing a card given to Caroline Néron which had sparked immense controversy.

“Production decided to send me to the slaughterhouse for the benefit of the controversy that the card would create,” he criticizes in his book.

“I’ll explain to you why I didn’t cut that,” the host revealed. “First of all, it’s a very good card! That’s your job! Everyone was cramped. That’s the job of the king’s jester. »

“Well, it’s not you who had all the outburst the week after,” retorted Turcotte. “I had been so often flayed that I was more and more afraid of displeasing people. »

In light of the revelations made in his guest’s book, Guy A. Lepage asked him why he had not decided to leave sooner.

“It’s a regret I have. I should have left earlier. But I would have liked to talk about it. I wish we communicated more. »

Sitting in the co-host chair, Kim Lévesque-Lizotte played couples therapist by reminding Guy A. and Dany that they had many great years working together.

“I say that too!” I loved the time I was there. Except the end. I feel liberated having written the book. The Everyone’s Talking About It episode, but all the other episodes. It feels good, it’s liberating! It’s like I’ve been in therapy. But instead of paying, I’m selling it! »

The interview sparked many reactions on social media. Here are some of them:
