The artist, who was at home at the time of the incident, recalled precisely what happened, explaining that he had not felt well, “exceptionally not well”, then had a fever, ‘being dehydrated and having asked what we call a nurse.

“I was sitting in my house and I disappeared. Like that. I no longer had a pulse,” he then said before specifying that emergency services had intervened quickly.

“Within minutes they were there – the ambulance outside my house. There were about six paramedics in the living room, along with two doctors, and they were wearing outfits that made it look like they were from outer space or something. It was a little shocking to open my eyes and see that. Everyone was around me saying, ‘He’s back. He’s here.’

Al Pacino also compared this experience to Shakespeare’s work and one of his most famous lines, explaining: “It was over. As Shakespeare says in Hamlet, “No more. To be or not to be.”

The actor also spoke about his recent fatherhood, saying that it was one of the motivations for writing his memoirs.
