Friday evening, singer and actor Childish Gambino (Donald Glover, his real name) announced that he would have to completely cancel his world tour, after having postponed it last September for health reasons. The author of “This Is America” had already warned his audience that he had to “focus on your physical health”. Last night, in a tweet, the singer spoke more about his illness, announcing a surgical procedure that he will have to undergo and the definitive cancellation of the next dates:
“After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to check on something that had become evident. After being diagnosed, it became clear that I would not be performing that night, and after more testing, I would not be able to perform the rest of the American tour. Right now I have surgery planned and need time to heal.
My path to recovery is something I need to take seriously. That said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour as well as the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. In the meantime, thank you for your love, respect and support.”
