This is how he saw his popularity rise quickly. A path which allowed him to meet Michel Blanc, who unfortunately died. An essential figure who left his mark on the world of cinema. However, this meeting took an unexpected turn.
An unexpected turning point
It was alongside his accomplices from Woop in 2014 that Hakim Jemili made a place for himself on the small screen. Indeed, the actor has seen his name gain weight in the world of the seventh art. However, the latter had not yet achieved real notoriety. It is in 2019 that the life of the 35-year-old actor will take another turn with the release of Doctor?. And it must be said that Hakim Jemili did not expect it.
“At the time, Tristan Séguéla saw all of Paris to do this role, everyone tried out for this character. Tristan came to see me on stage, I was playing at Paname at the time and he asked me to take the tryouts”, he revealed in As an aside. Hakim Jemili was happy to meet one of the greatest French actors who tackled the film Les Bronzés. However, the actor quickly became disillusioned. Facing Nathalie Lévy, the young man revealed that his first meeting with Michel Blanc did not go as planned. “The first contact with Michel was quite cold to be honest. He didn’t even want to meet me, in fact”, he explained.
Moreover, the comedian wanted to point out that they met by chance. “I had an appointment to try on costumes and it turns out he was there. We shook hands, we didn’t even talk. He said hello to me, he left on his side, I left on my side, so it was a little cold”, he revealed.
“He’s the one who taught me how to make cinema”
A particularly complicated first approach for Hakim Jemili. However, once the project began, their relationship changed dramatically. Indeed, after breaking through the shell of the member of Splendid, the days on set were unforgettable. “On the set, we got along extremely well. We just shot a film together!”, he said.
Subsequently, Hakim Jemili did not fail to express his gratitude to Michel Blanc who did not hesitate to give him a lot of advice. “Michel gave me the best advice anyone has ever given me. He was the one who taught me how to make cinema. If cinema works a little for me today, it’s thanks to this gentleman because one day he wanted to send me a message, but without being mean. He told me: ‘Hakim, you know, the camera sees everything’”, he confided. Before adding: “He repeated this phrase to me three or four times. I thought for a long time and understood that it meant: ‘Stop overdoing it, be normal and play as naturally as possible‘. This is advice that I apply every time I make a film.”
