It’s the return of the iconic duo. Brad Pitt and George Clooney are reunited to star in the film Wolfsavailable on Apple TV+. Years after the trilogy Ocean’s Eleven et Burn After Readingthe two Hollywood stars have decided to team up again in this action comedy. The plot is simple but quite engaging. One professional (George Clooney) is tasked with cleaning up a crime scene when a second (Brad Pitt) intervenes for the same mission. The two lone wolves find themselves forced to team up and spend a night where nothing goes as planned.

If the two production companies behind the project belong respectively to the actors, the action comedy was directed and written by the great director Jon Watts. He is particularly known for being at the head of the last Spider-Man trilogy (Homecoming, Far From Home et No Way Home). Apple TV has been fighting for streaming rights in 2021 against Sony, Lionsgate and Netflix. The actors also wanted a release in cinemas. Favor obtained because Wolfs was broadcast for a week, from September 20 to 26, in a handful of theaters in the United States.

Opinions far from positive

On the Allociné site, the film was not very well received. Indeed, Wolfs obtained a rating of 2.3/5 from the press and 2.9/5 from the spectators. Gaël Golhen, journalist at Première, affirms that “the film is distressingly lazy and Wolfs ends up looking like a compilation of Nespresso commercials”. Sur Rotten Tomatoes, Wolfs is only 70% recommended by spectators. For Metacritic, the score is even lower than 6/10.

But the action comedy is not the only feature film currently failing on the American streaming platform. Indeed, The Investigatorsa heist film directed by Doug Liman, debuted last August and was headlined by Matt Damon. Alongside him, we also discover Casey Affleck, Hong Chau and Michael Stuhlbarg. The film is not a success either. Only 41% recommendations on Rotten Tomatoes and a rating given by spectators on Allociné of 2.5/5.
