Louis Ducruet and Albert II of Monaco share a common passion which brought them together this weekend

Life on the Monaco rock seems quite peaceful for the princely family. Whether it is Albert II of Monaco or the other members of the Grimaldi family, their living environment is heavenly. Between the splendor of castle life, the Mediterranean and its year-round sunshine, many people would be content with this life of worldliness and luxury.

Despite his many obligations, Prince Albert II is never happier than when they are linked to sport. A great amateur, he even practiced for many years. Her Majesty indeed participated at several Olympics in the Principality’s bobsleigh team. Sport is therefore essential for Monaco. Whether it’s the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Monte-Carlo tennis tournament or its AS Monaco football club.

This football club which was created by Louis II, his great-grandfathercelebrated its 100th anniversary this weekend. The most eminent members of the family were therefore present to celebrate this highly symbolic anniversary. Especially since the famous red and white jersey crossed out diagonally is the creation of Grace Kelly. The famous American actress is none other than the mother of Prince Albert II of Monaco and his sisters Stéphanie and Caroline.

Among the personalities present also included Louis Ducruet. The prince’s nephew is indeed a big football fan. He even held positions within the recruitment unit of the principality club. We were therefore able to see the son of Stéphanie of Monaco present in the stands alongside his uncle to whom he is very close. This centenary was an opportunity for both to benefit from this passion that they have in common: AS Monaco.

AS Monaco, a club with a century-old history

On the field side, many former glories were present to celebrate the glorious past of the Monegasque club. Even if they were not all able to come, it is important to note that five French internationals, world champions, were trained at ASM : Thierry Henry, David Trezeguet, Emmanuel Petit, Lilian Thuram and Kylian Mbappé. A club which is therefore very renowned for the quality of its training even today.

Crowned champions of on several occasions, the princely club almost achieved the ultimate Grail in 2004 after an exceptional run in the Champions League.
