The return of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi is still one to watch for on the AEW side, but now Ibushi has himself published an update on the situation.
Indeed, for two weeks, Kota Ibushi has been sharing photos on his social networks which show that Kenny Omega joined him at his school in Japan so that they could spend time together and train in the ring. Today, the message is taken even further in his latest publication.
Ibushi shared a photo of him and Omega stating thatthis was their last training and they will be coming to AEW soon. Here is his full statement:
”The last training session is over!!! I’m really looking forward to seeing you all, and this time we were able to work really hard.
Preparation is complete for AEW, which is coming soon. I still have to keep my promise to Japan! The landscape must have changed! All that remains is to do it! We’re both on fire! ️Thank you for the flexible contract even though I am signed to AEW.
Well, there are a few things I can’t do, but basically, when I’m in Japan I’m free.”
As mentioned on Catch-Newz, Kenny Omega has been out of AEW since December 2023 after suffering from diverticulitis. His return to AEW screens is still undetermined. Meanwhile, Ibushi’s last match in AEW was in November 2023 as he was injured in Japan in early 2024. As mentioned on Catch-Newz, Ibushi is currently exclusively doing matches in Japan on time to finish his convalescence for his ankle with a light schedule.
With this mention of a return soon, we can imagine that it will be possible to see Ibushi and Omega on AEW screens in the near future. The next AEW PPVs are WrestleDream on October 12, 2024 then Full Gear on November 23, 2024. Events that will be ones to watch.
