For several years, Valérie Bonneton, renowned actress of French cinema and television, has made a radical life choice. After multiple successes in films like The little handkerchiefs or the cult series Don’t do this, don’t do thatthe actress decided to settle in Normandy. Alongside her companion Édouard, the latter set down her bags in the charming village of Pierrefitte-en-Auge, a haven of peace nestled in Calvados. With its 154 inhabitants, this little corner of greenery seems to have won the heart of the actress.

In an interview given to Actu.fr in 2022, François Cluzet’s ex does not hide his love for Normandy. “I am in love with Normandy and the Pays d’Auge. I come as often as possible, even when I don’t have time. As soon as I get here, I’m home.”she confided. For the 54-year-old actress, this region represents much more than just a place of residence. It’s a real refuge, a place where she can recharge her batteries, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris.

“For me, Normandy is fishing, nature, charm, authenticity, terroir, good products, life. I am very attached to nature. I had a house by the sea. It was wonderful but there were too many people. Today, I have a house near Pont l’Evêque and I am in nature. I’m always dazzled when I arrive. I love it, I love it, I love it!”she also revealed to Côté Fleurie Magazine.

The bucolic setting of Pierrefitte-en-Auge, with its green hills and charming paths, seems to have a calming influence on the actress. The former wife of François Cluzet often mentions the beauty of the landscapes, the changing climate which punctuates her days, and the wealth of local products which delight her taste buds. “Here, we have wonderful products, the sea, the land, these trees that I am crazy about”she added.

A new life far from film sets

After years of completing projects, Valérie Bonneton is now taking advantage ofa quieter life, in the company of Édouard. This simple living environment seems completely in line with his current state of mind, where nature takes a prominent place. “I love Paris for a thousand reasons, but I never feel as good as in Normandy”she says with passion.

Even if Valérie Bonneton is far from the film sets, the actress continues to nourish her creativity. His first novel, Mom of minein which she talks about her son’s leukemia through the eyes of her dog, bears witness to his writing talent. This literary project, which she did not think she would complete, saw the light of day thanks to the encouragement of her friend Marc Dugain and the publisher Clara Dupont-Monod.

The actress admits to having taken great pleasure in telling this painful story with humor and lightness. This book, a real catharsis for her, allowed her to reconcile with a difficult part of her life.
