The couple said “yes” in 1982. Together, the two cinema lovers welcomed three children: actress Lolita Chammah (born in 1983), Lorenzo (born in 1988) and Angelo (born in 1997). Very discreet, the man of Syrian Jewish origin is the owner of two Art & Essai cinemas in Paris. At 73, he is also a film distributor and exhibition curator. Familiar to the stars, Ronald Chammah “is as generous as he is discreet: he is a true enthusiast, who much prefers to be standing at the back of the room watching the audience he has brought to see a rare film than making a speech in front of the screen“, affirms his friend the director and screenwriter Nicolas Saada in the columns of Monde.
Their daughter, Lolita Chammah, followed in the footsteps of her illustrious mother and also became an actress. Very close to her daughter, Isabelle Huppert spoke about an ordeal that Lolita Chammah had to go through in 2022: the loss of a baby just after birth. The very premature baby, named Kolia, died after 12 days of life in intensive care. Ronald Chammah’s daughter decided to tell this drama in a book. The interpreter of Violette Nozière revealed in the magazine ELLE his admiration for his eldest daughter: “I was very touched by what she said about her grief, but also by her writing. Moving, I knew this story would be, by the very nature of its subject. But I was also overwhelmed, and admired, that Lolita had both the strength and the talent to put it into words like this. It is not just a factual story, but a literary object“.
