From fashion week to Clairefontaine, Jules Koundé, the football fashion icon

Sharp fashion sense, nonchalant gait, bulging abs and pouting pout, if he hadn’t been a footballer, Jules Koundé could have been a model. And why not both? In recent months, the 25-year-old defender has stood out as the new “it-boy” that all luxury brands are vying for and his campaign with Jacquemus almost rocked the Internet.

On social networks, he plays with codes, mixing aesthetic images and sporting exploits. As for Clairefontaine, where the French team meets, he made it his first playground to affirm his love for fashion. At each of his appearances, the FC Barcelona player increases his level of daring until he appears in a Simone Rocha skirt at the beginning of September or in cowboy boots with heels. It is therefore natural that he was crowned best dressed personality of the year 2023 by an English fashion media, “Outlander”.

Since then, Jules Koundé has appeared in the front rows of Fashion Week shows and on advertising posters. Recently he was, with Bella Hadid, one of the faces of the Adidas Originals campaign for the legendary SL72 pair, which has since been withdrawn in July after controversy. From now on, he poses for Samsung. And a few days ago, he revealed that he was the new face of an explosive advertising campaign for Jacquemus.

First steps into being a model

In this campaign entitled “At home with Jules”, the footballer appears in totally absurd situations (standing in a mini-car), carrying out everyday tasks in the open air (special mention for his vacuuming the lawn) or being coated with whipped cream. All in clothes designed by the very fashionable Simon Porte Jacquemus for his “La Casa” collection.

Jules Koundé’s passion for fashion unfortunately earned him some scathing remarks, but this quickly means forgetting the Beckham years or ignoring all the American athletes who display their outfits as a standard. The Franco-Beninese faces the mockery with maturity anyway. In an interview with GQ, he explained: “When you go outside the box, people like to criticize. But it’s important for me to say that the main thing is to feel good in your clothes. As long as we’re comfortable and we like it, that’s all that matters. The only person who should be happy with the way she is dressed is you. The rest, we don’t care. »
