Nicole Kidman: “I dreamed of being 1.57m tall and having generous curves”

Nicole Kidman has been walking red carpets all over the world and, at 57, seems to embody self-confidence. And yet. In the new documentary series, “In Vogue: The 90s,” airing on “Hulu,” she admitted that it took her a long time to tame her body, which was far removed from her teenage beauty standards. Until in 1997, John Galliano (Dior) asked her to create an outfit especially for her for the 1997 Oscars. A year after she caused a sensation by dressing Princess Diana for the MET Gala.

The night the designer presented her with the dress, she was like in a fairy tale. She says: “I was a redheaded, light-skinned girl who was almost 1.80 m tall at the age of 14, I was made fun of (…) “All my life, I wanted to be 1.57 m tall and have generous curves.” And there, she touched her childhood dreams. “I grew up watching Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn and Grace Kelly, all these women whose style was associated with great designers.”

She has since become the face of major brands: for example, she was the face of Chanel’s famous No. 5. Today, she is a recognized eclectic actress, juggling between the big and small screen, appearing in both independent films and major productions.
