From September 10 to 16, the Miss India Worldwide competition took place in New York. There were 3 categories: Miss Teen India, Miss India and Mrs India. And there were also 3 Guadeloupean candidates for these categories: Sierra Suret, Chloé Gokoul and Marie Eve Calmelet. Chloé Gokoul who won the prize for best talent, she who proposed an exceptional Indian dance choreography.
A pride!
It is in this context that Sierra Suret was crowned Miss Teen India Worldwide. The young petite-canalienne distinguished herself in the different passages. Namely in evening wear, in Indian dress and artistic talent where she opted for dance, more precisely Bollywood. Sierra Suret is 16 years old. A high school student in Baimbridge, she would like to become a veterinarian.
I am very proud to have won this award because this year is not just any year. We are celebrating 170 years of Indian presence in Guadeloupe, I think it is a gift from our ancestors. This is the first time that a candidate from Guadeloupe has won this award.
The Caribbean touch*
For her, what made the difference was her Caribbean touch.
I honestly think that from the beginning, I got noticed a little bit because I was Caribbean. And I never hid that. For example, I was the first and also the only one to have curly hair. I had a darker complexion than the others. And I also stood out because I always had a little flower in my hair. And everyone said: ah, that’s so Caribbean. So, I think it’s thanks to that too.
With this world title, Sierra will continue his activities locally, but also intends to make them shine as much as possible at the international level as his title requires.
