Called “Meet Ella, the dog who saved my life,” the book looks back on the 37-year-old’s years of depression, his passion for dogs and the media attention that followed the marriage of his sister.

In a first excerpt published by the Daily MailInigo’s dad tells how Pippa and taught him the Kate’s engagement as they visited a pub near the family home on the eve of the official announcement. “Catherine whispered the news and told us it would be public the next day. They were clearly made for each other,” writes the little brother of the Princess of Wales, visibly under the spell of his brother-in-law.

Trust, however, took a long time to gain. Prince or not, William had to be accepted by his in-laws : “I remember testing him when we met. Was he worthy of my sister? He was going to have to prove himself.” says James. Evidence that the son of Charles III has been trying to provide for more than 20 years, thirteen of which he spent as Kate’s husband. The couple has been particularly tested this year, the princess suffering from a cancer which she revealed in March 2024.

At every stage, she was able to count on the support of her little brother as well as that of her husband, to whom she appeared very close in a video published on September 9. A film broadcast on social networks to announce the end of her chemotherapy that James Middleton commented on with a “I couldn’t be more proud”.
