The Saudi-Jordanian couple’s honeymoon in Mexico has been controversial since paparazzi captured pictures of Saudi Princess Rajwa in a swimsuit. An outfit, for some, “incompatible with the values of Islam” that the couple is supposed to represent.
These photos quickly made the rounds of the Arab media and social networks and are shocking in countries where “modesty is a sacred value for women”. Many have condemned the dress of the princess, considering it “indecent”, “contrary to Islam”, and “immodest”.
The controversy has also spread to Jordan, where the royal family is respected and “must embody the example” according to the press. The controversy is such that the Prince inheriting that he had to come out of silence to promise that the authors of the photos would be prosecuted.
