Marguerite from “Star Academy” lands her first film role

From music to cinema there is only one step… at least for Marguerite. The candidate for this twelfth season of “Star Academy” will, in fact, appear in The mix of genresthe next feature film by Michel Leclerc (People’s names).

Eliminated at the gates of the semi-finals of the TF1 telecrochet, during season 12, Marguerite Dedeyan won over the public with her ease in singing but also during her stage performances. The 24-year-old young woman, particularly at ease during theater classes, revealed a real talent for comedy during the show.

So it’s not entirely a surprise that she made her film debut in The mix of genresa highly anticipated French comedy directed by Michel Leclerc which has just been presented at the Alpe d’Huez Festival and will be released on April 16. However, the young woman did not apply to participate in the film.

Casting assistant on this feature film, she was spotted by the director himself. “ It’s quite funny because she was the assistant to the person who was in charge of casting the supporting roles. She spoke to the actors and actresses we were casting. I thought she delivered the lines really well and was a really good actress. So, I offered him a role like that”explained Michel Leclerc to Allociné.

The movie The mix of genres tells the story of Simone (Léa Drucker), a police officer with rather conservative ideas who investigates a feminist collective suspected of complicity in murder and infiltrates the group. Threatened with discovery, she randomly accuses Paul (Benjamin Lavernhe of the Comédie Française), a failed actor, of having sexually assaulted her. The accusation becomes public and he becomes the target of the collective.

« The film depicts different points of view which are embodied by different characters on this subject of feminism, the director told Allociné. I think the film gives cause for debate. That’s how I’ve always seen cinema, that is to say approaching a subject and trying to express it through different characters, different points of view, so that everyone can position themselves in relation to the film .”
