On May 18, 2002, Michel Fugain lost his daughter, Laurette, aged twenty-two. A year earlier, the young woman had been diagnosed with leukemia. Thanks to his wife, Sanda, whom he met in Corsica in a piano bar in 2002, Michel Fugain was able to bounce back. A few months after their relationship became official, the couple moved into the charming home of Michel Fugain, located in Corsica, which he has now owned for around thirty years. This is recognizable by these blue shutters, these trees that surround it, and its breathtaking view of the sea.
For one afternoon, Michel Fugain welcomed journalists from Gala. And upon their arrival, they quickly understood to what extent the interpreter of A beautiful story cherished this little corner of paradise: “I just took down the basketball backboard. I unscrewed everything, unbolted everything. A hell of a job“. And the least we can say is that the 82-year-old singer and his wife, Sanda, took care to tastefully decorate the interior of their home.
A true haven of peace
Inside the house with blue shutters is a grand piano, symbol of the meeting between the two lovers, as well as a synthesizer on which Michel Fugain composes his new songs. And if they feel like jumping into the water, Michel and Sanda just have to walk a few meters. And for good reason, a beach is located at the bottom of the house. In winter, the couple, who married on October 2, 2014, can enjoy the warmth of a good fireplace, while in summer, they spend long evenings on their terrace, overlooking the sea .

This lost house in Corsica is also the perfect place to get together with family. In this same interview given to our brothers and sisters of GalaSanda, who suffered from kidney cancer in 2005, confides: “Our children get along very well, we meet here during the holidays, with Sam and Elliot, 18 and 21 years old, Marie’s grandsons (Michel Fugain’s eldest, Editor’s note) who study in Quebec. We dance on the terrace until noon“.
As a reminder, Michel Fugain is the father of Marie51 years old and Alexis, 32 years old. Both were born from a first marriage to Stéphanie Fugain.
