Faced with the devastating fires hitting Los Angeles, Canadian singer The Weeknd has decided to cancel a planned concert and postpone the release of his new album.
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, announced via Instagram and his official website that he is canceling his plans to perform at Rose Bowl Stadium on January 25. The singer also postponed the release of his album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, now scheduled for January 31 instead of the 24th.
“Out of respect and concern for the residents of Los Angeles County”he wrote in a statement. “This city has always been a deep source of inspiration to me, and my thoughts are with all those affected by this difficult time.”

Fires continue to ravage southern California, where authorities are increasing efforts to limit their spread. Significant relief efforts are being deployed as the US Weather Service issued a warning for strong winds until Wednesday, increasing the risk of “extreme” fires.
