William wealthier than Charles, Andrew in difficulty… who are the richest members of the Windsor clan?

The British media, however, have reached their conclusions, publishing the ranking of the richest royal family members and revealing some surprises. The king, for example, only comes in second position while Meghan et Harry remain in an honorable place, despite the disappointments.

William billionaire and richer than Charles

The richest in the family would be Prince William. In 2023, the future king responded to a child asking him what number his bank account showed, “I don’t know.” According to the DailyMail, The Prince of Wales’ fortune is said to be worth more than a billion pounds since Prince William officially took control of the Duchy of Cornwall, following his father’s coronation.

This estate is estimated to be worth 1.3 billion pounds and would bring in 24 million a year for William. Amounts that he can enjoy as he wishes without paying any tax. Furthermore, the prince would have inherited 10 million pounds at the time of the death of his mother in 1997, as well as 7 million for the death of his great-grandmother in 2002. Sums which allow him to surpass his father , Charles III whose fortune is estimated “only” 900 million pounds.

By losing the Duchy of Cornwall, the king in fact recovered that of Lancaster, estimated at 647 million pounds, or 356 million less. Like his son, however, he receives annual remuneration for his activities, estimated at 27 million for 2024. Finally, Charles III is considered the main legatee of Elizabeth II and would therefore have pocketed 370 million pounds upon his death, exempt from taxes, in addition to works of art and jewelry.

A fortune acquired… through work

In third position we find the Princess Anne who comes far behind the king with a fortune of 50 million pounds. As the most active member of the royal family, the sister of Charles III is in fact entitled to an annual annuity and also owns the Gatcombe Park estate which hosts numerous agricultural activities as well as a festival every year.

Behind, we find less active members of the royal family such as Prince Michael of Kent, cousin of Elizabeth II and David Armstrong-Jones. The first would be at the head of a fortune of 31.5 million pounds amassed during his years in the army and through the management of his services company. As for the second, his fortune is estimated between 19.7 and 30.7 million pounds, largely inherited from his mother, Princess Margaret. Elizabeth II’s nephew also ran his own furniture business and became director of the London branch of Christie’s in 2006.

Harry and Meghan saved from ruin

In sixth position in the ranking we find the the duke and the duchess of Sussex whose fortune is estimated at 60 million pounds, mainly from inheritances and commercial agreements established since their departure from the crown. Like his brother, William, Harry is said to have inherited 10 million pounds following the death of Princess Diana. Recently, he also reportedly collected 7 million from his great-grandmother. However, he remains deprived of royal income and must combine several activities to continue to receive an income.

The youngest son of Charles III is notably impact director of the NGO BetterUp, which would bring him 1 million pounds per year. It is also estimated that the publication of his book “The Substitute” earned him 32 million while Netflix contracts are estimated at 80 million. As for Meghan, the latter would have been paid £40,000 per episode of the series “Suit”, filmed before her marriage and would have signed a new contract of almost 2 million pounds with Lemonada Media after the abortion of the project with Spotify .

Prince Andrew impoverished by scandals

Behind Harry and Meghan we find the Duke of Gloucester, cousin of Elizabeth II, whose fortune is estimated between 12.6 and 19.7 million pounds. After him it is Peter Philips who ranks with 15.6 million in the bank, ahead of his sister, Zara and his brother-in-law, Mike Tindall, respectively 15.6 million each. Next came Sarah Chatto, Edward and Sophie of Edinburgh and Kate Middleton.

The 16th position is occupied by the prince Andrewoutcast of the royal family, at the head of 5 million pounds. The brother of Charles III was in fact deprived of his royal pension following his involvement in the Epstein affair and must now finance his residence at the Royal Lodge in Windsor as well as his security alone. Constraints which forced the Duke of York to sell two of his properties, acquired with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, for 15 million pounds.

Behind him, in penultimate position it is Marie-Christine de Kent who arrives with a fortune estimated around 3.9 million pounds. Finally, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie close the ranking, their bank accounts being estimated between 765,000 and 4.5 million pounds. Although none of them receive a royal pension, they did, however, inherit more than a million from their great-grandmother, just like William and Harry.
