Fire in Los Angeles: actor Saïd Taghmaoui says he “experienced hell”

“My whole neighborhood went up in smoke, my house too,” declared the Franco-Moroccan actor who did not “shut a wink all night.”

« We spent a night in hell ». The scenes almost bear witness to an apocalyptic situation in the neighborhoods of Los Angeles, as a violent fire has devoured a total of more than 108 square kilometers of land since January 7 and caused nearly 180,000 residents to flee. Saïd Taghmaoui, interpreter of Saïd in the film Hate (1995) by Mathieu Kassovitz, testified on Instagram, on January 9, to have experienced « hell » on site.

« My whole neighborhood went up in smoke, my house too »he writes, before discussing his « trauma » facing the « considerable damage » who made Angeline homes a veritable pile of ashes. « I tried to stay as much as possible to save what I could, confided the Franco-Moroccan actor. I managed to save a few things, including a car and a couple of things. But above all I managed to save my life. »

« No alternative but to flee leaving your home behind »

Said Taghmaoui

The actor published a photo under which he explains « not having closed your eyes all night ». We see his house, a villa with large balconies, condemned by the flames. « This is what I discovered this morning in front of my house. No alternative but to flee leaving your home behind »notes Saïd Taghmaoui.

« It’s the apocalypse here »

His Instagram account – followed by nearly a million followers – today displays seven publications related to the disaster affecting the City of Angels. One of them shows a highway with, all around, the forest on fire in the mountains. “ It’s the apocalypse here in California », deplores Saïd Taghmaoui, describing « a increasingly critical situation, almost uncontrollable, with a perfect correlation between the powerful winds and the flames of hell ».

His anger, perhaps even his fear, makes him fear the worst: “ The winds are so powerful, that they spread the fire through the embers, in all directions lighting other fires spreading enormous quantities of unbreathable toxic smoke everywhere, like a tornado from hell, preventing any plane to take off and everything helps impossible !!! ». On other publications, Saïd Taghmaoui seems to use this famous saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”. No caption accompanies the photos and videos that he shares and which bear witness to the Californian disaster. One shows the state of a neighborhood before and after the fire, while another illustrates the ravages of the flames on a Hollywood avenue.

Saïd Taghmaoui is not the only celebrity living in the Los Angeles neighborhoods to have been forced to flee their home in recent days. Billy Cristal, Mark Hamill, Paris Hilton, Patrick Bruel and Laeticia Hallyday also saw their homes go up in flames in this fire, the death toll of which today is 10.
