Barack Obama proposed a list of 25 titles where we find some of the biggest commercial hits of the year in the United States such as a piece by Kendrick Lamar (“Squabble Up”), Travis Scott (“Active”) and Billy Eilish (“Lunch”), Lil Baby (with Central Cee: “Band4band”) and even Beyoncé (“Texas Hold 'Em”). Less prominent artists, Myles Smith and Shaboozey nevertheless gained a lot of popularity thanks to their titles “Stargazing” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”.
The former US president did not forget to mention “Gata Only” by FloyyMenor & Chris MJ. This hit particularly stood out during the summer and established itself as one of the hits of the year. It was notably the most used soundtrack of 2024 on TikTok.
Literature and cinema also in the spotlight
The 63-year-old politician also revealed his favorite books and films of the year. He notably mentioned the fiction of Russian resistance author Alexei Navalny (“Patriot”). He also cites one of the Best Sellers of the year: “The Work of Art” by Adam Moss.
As for films, the former American president from Hawaii once again gives pride of place to American productions. Among the best-known feature films, he lists “Conclave” (with Ralph Fiennes), “Dune: Part Two” (Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya), “A Perfect Stranger” (Timothée Chalamet) and even “Anora” (Mikey Madison and Mark Eidelstein).
