While Emmanuel Macron has just chosen his new Prime Minister, François Bayrou, Léa Salamé received her double on France Inter ! Richard Gere actually gave him an interview this week. It’s on the occasion of the release of Paul Schrader’s new feature film “Oh, Canada”. It is in theaters this Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Léa Salamé falls into his arms
Then encouraged to talk about a few personal subjects and his private life, François Bayrou had obviously let himself go a little too much. He had in fact assured the friendly host: “I was told I looked like the actor from 'Pretty Woman'”.
Karine Le Marchand, initially a little surprised by the confidence, then admitted to him “a little Richard Gere side”to please. And François Bayrou insisted, not without humor: “There you go, you’ve come there too. You’ve ended up piercing the depths of my nature”.
Richard Gere is an actor with incomparable charm. And Léa Salamé must have realized this on December 16, 2024. Raphaël Glucksmann's companion even shared a souvenir photo of her and her guest, embracing, on Instagram. That’s saying something.
We saw it in “Chicago” (2002), “The Harvests of Heaven” (1978) by Terence Malick or even “American Gigolo” (1980) by Paul Schrader. In addition to his career in cinema, he has however a point in common with François Bayrou. And that’s because he’s committed.
What brings him closer to François Bayrou
Richard Gere thus assured Léa Salamé that he had inherited from his father a “fundamental sense of responsibility and compassion.” And added that faced with the current state of the world, he was upset. He confided in this war context: “The only thing that affects me is not being able to change things“.
For his part, François Bayrou has just joined Matignon, after overthrow of Michel Barnier in the National Assembly. The previous Prime Minister was not able to continue his mandate beyond 3 months. His action was stopped dead by a motion of censure. Unfortunately, it might not be any different for his successor…
