AN HOUR IN THE OFFICE – Every Monday, a leader opens his door to Figaro. It is the turn of Thomas Velter, CEO of the public establishment of Mont-Saint-Michel and administrator of the abbey.
Thomas Velter remembers it as if it were yesterday: his appointment as head of the national public establishment of Mont-Saint-Michel, created by the State in 2020 on the model of the estates of Versailles and Chambord. He is the first director general for a renewable five-year term. He is one of those leaders whose taking office took place in the anxiety-provoking atmosphere of the health crisis: improbable conditions to say the least. That’s an understatement since he only got to know his teams – around 150 people and double that during the summer – at the end of May 2020.
