A painting by the impressionist painter, authenticated by the Boudin committee, sold under the hammer this Friday at the Tourny auction house in Bordeaux.
The impressionist painting, signed Eugène Boudin, was estimated at a minimum of 15,000 euros. The Pier, Trouville by the 19th century artiste century, precursor of impressionism, sold for 22,940 euros (tax included) at the Tourny auction house this Friday in Bordeaux. Presented at auction among 278 lots from the possessions of Bordeaux collectors, the painting presents a beach scene characteristic of the artist.
Painted in oil on panel, the canvas measures 27 centimeters high and 21 centimeters wide. The painting is titled and dated on the reverse. It is referenced in the third catalog raisonné of the painted work of Eugène Boudin which is to be published by the artist’s committee at nº4612.
The beach of Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados) and its surroundings greatly inspired this painter who created several representations of it. One of them, Trouville Beachis held by the Musée d’Orsay.
