The documentary about ex-Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher sheds light on hidden elements of his life, including an alleged attempted murder.

The Netflix documentary dedicated to the career of former Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher has been available since September 15, 2021. A film which retraces his incredible journey and reveals the hidden aspects of his life. Several elements leaked well before the release of this five-episode project. And one of them returns to the famous accident that occurred in 1998 on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where Michael Schumacher thought he was going to lose his life.

A plot targeting Michael Schumacher

The Canadian David Coulthard is one of the main victims of this accident. The two drivers actually had a collision during which Schumacher lost a wheel. Coulthard, for his part, fared better by only losing his rear wing. Taken by anger, the German, whose state of health is still worrying, assumed that they would have wanted to kill him. “Michael was furious and thought it was some sort of plot to kill him”Coulthard explained in the documentary. The Canadian didn't stop there, he then added: He just accused me of trying to kill him. But it was just an accident. Things like that happen.”

“There was no reason to drive at that speed”

The ex-pilot then continued: “Schumacher could be very ruthless, but also cold and distant. I think you have to be like that to succeed like him.” Still in the Netflix documentary, Norbert Haug, former director of the Mercedes-Benz team, also reacted to this accident. The latter gave his version of the facts bluntly. “If I'm being nice, I'll say it was a 50-50 deal.”he began by declaring. Neither one nor two, he blamed the German who he considers fully responsible for the incident. “In reality, 95% of the fault was Michael's. There was no reason to be driving at that speed at that time.”he blurted.

Michael Schumacher, the ideal lover

In this film produced by the German channel ARD, his partner Corinna revealed his special character in private. She thus opened her heart about several aspects of their life as a couple. Particularly on the man that Michael Schumacher is, far from the cameras: “I had a birthday dinner for him once. He was the only one to help me do the dishes […] He was very funny, and that's what I saw in him. I fell in love with him because he was a wonderful man. I felt he was special to me.”she said.
