More than 10.3 million viewers followed the interview with Prime Minister Michel Barnier on TF1 and France 2 on Tuesday, on the eve of the censure vote in the Assembly, for an audience share of 48.3%, according to data from Médiamétrie on Wednesday.
TF1 had more than 5.7 million viewers at the time of Michel Barnier's intervention, compared to around 4.5 million on France 2.
This interview was also broadcast live on the Franceinfo and LCI news channels (audiences for which will be available later).
In a letter sent Tuesday to Arcom, the audiovisual regulator, the BFMTV news channel was outraged at not having had authorization from the TF1 and France Télévisions groups to be able to broadcast it, considering that it was an “attack on information pluralism”.
On Wednesday, the leader of the National Rally deputies Marine Le Pen will in turn be on the set of the 8 p.m. news on TF1, then it will be the turn of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of La France insoumise, on Thursday.
For comparison, some 15.3 million people watched Emmanuel Macron's television speech on June 9, in which he announced his decision to dissolve the National Assembly, broadcast by TF1, France 2 and the French channels Continuous information (BFMTV, CNews, LCI and Franceinfo).
