The actor, who announced in 2023 that he only had a few years to live, had access to treatment which saved his life.

Swedish-American actor Dolph Lundgren has beaten his cancer. An unexpected victory: the 67-year-old actor, seen in Rocky IV et Aquaman 2announced last year that this illness was terminal and that he only had two to three years to live.

“Health update: I'm finally cancer free,” he wrote on Instagram this week. “I am grateful and hopeful for a bright future.”

This message appears in the caption of a video of Dolph Lundgren in a hospital bed. “I’m at UCLA (a medical center in Los Angeles, Editor’s note),” he declares. “I am going to have an operation to remove one last dead tumor. Since there are no more cancer cells in my body, I assume that I will then be free of cancer; I am looking forward to this operation. This is an ablation of the lung.”

“A recently developed treatment”

After kidney cancer in 2015, new tumors were discovered in the kidneys and liver in 2020. Dolph Lundgren revealed his illness in 2023, as Deadline recalls, in an interview for the show In Depth With Graham Bensinger.

He then spoke of terminal cancer and a life expectancy of two to three years: “I’ve lived a great life,” he declared. “I'm not bitter, but I'm sorry for my kids and my fiancée.”

It was only after this speech that the actor sought a second medical opinion and received a recently developed treatment which proved effective.

Born on November 3, 1957 in Stockholm, Dolph Lundgren made himself known in the world of American cinema by playing the antagonist of Rocky IV in 1985. He then multiplied the roles in action films for around fifteen years (The Masters of the Universe, Punisher, In the claws of the red dragon…) then turned towards directing. Recently, we saw him in blockbusters Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom et Expendables 4.
