This is one of the cases that will forever mark France. That of Gisèle Pelicotthis woman and mother was allegedly drugged by her husband and raped by dozens of men for ten years. The trial has been held since September 2 in Avignon. This Monday, November 25, the requisitions against this man fell: 20 years of criminal imprisonment.
The verdict is expected on December 20. For eleven weeks, at each of his appearances in court, Gisèle Pélicot and warmly applauded and supported by the public. She did not want the trial to take place behind closed doors.
“I know what it is… Believe me”
Faced with the scale of this affair, Gisèle Pélicot received the support of many personalities, like Nabilla. This Saturday, November 30, it was the singer Lio who spoke on the show C The weekly where she is invited.
The extract which has just been shared on the show's social networks this Friday, shows Lio very moved after viewing images of Gisèle Pélicot. “JDo you see that your eyes even get moist when you hear Gisèle Pélicot?” Aurélie Casse then bounced back. “Pbecause I find it beautiful and I don't see why I wouldn't accept that emotion. It is a restorative emotion. It's beautiful, it's good. I'm not going to deprive myself of it.” she declared at first.
Before continuing: “I say thank you to him. I say well done to him. She has all my admiration. And I send him all my courage because I know what it is to have children, grandchildren, I know what it is to go to school, I know what it is to hear…She is also not done with this family sufferingwhich is that his children and his grandchildren are going to be confronted with all of this. And the children are big but the grandchildren are small, and it doesn't just go away, believe me. Believe me. It doesn't go away like that…” Lio concluded, his eyes misty with tears.
Lio also a victim
A strong emotion linked to his personal story. Lio was victim of domestic violence by her ex-husband, at the end of the 1990s. She has spoken on this subject several times, notably on November 18 to AFP. “I went through that and yet, I am a white woman, I was privileged, I was famous: it was hell” she said.
In March, she also spoke about the rape she suffered at the age of 10, by a man close to her family.. “I was raped. I was in the back of the car. The steering wheel being in the front, it was obviously not my father-in-law who could have committed this rape. It was a friend of his who worked in the same company. I also recount this episode in Pop Model” Lio revealed on his Instagram account.
